Jungceylon Phuket is the big shopping mall in the middle of Patong, open daily from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm, a 5 to 10-minute walk from Patong Beach. It is where Patong goes for a supermarket, a cheap lunch, a SIM card, a cinema or an hour of air conditioning when the afternoon gets too hot.
Most visitors walk past Jungceylon on their way to Bangla Road and only go in when it rains. That undersells it: the basement food hall cooks Thai dishes to order, the Big C hypermarket can stock a holiday kitchen, and Banzaan Fresh Market, where you pick seafood and have it cooked, is just behind it. This guide covers the hours, what is in each zone, where to eat, tourist discounts, rainy-day options, and how to get there and park.

What Jungceylon Phuket Is
Jungceylon Phuket is a shopping and leisure complex in the centre of Patong, and by its own description the largest shopping centre in southern Thailand, covering 200,000 square metres (About Jungceylon). The name is old: Jungceylon was the name used for Phuket Island over a hundred years ago, when the island was known for its trade.
Jungceylon calls itself a tropical resort mall, and it is split into four themed zones: The Jungle, The Bay, The Botanica and The Garden. The landmark is a 20-metre Chinese junk boat in The Bay Zone, in the centre of the complex, which is also the easiest place to meet up if your group splits up. A hotel, M Social Phuket with 418 rooms, is built into the mall itself.

Opening Hours
Jungceylon is open from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm every day (as of October 2026). A few parts keep their own hours, so check the list below if you are going early or late.
| Part of the mall (as of October 2026) | Opens | Closes |
|---|---|---|
| Jungceylon (main mall) | 11:00 am | 10:00 pm |
| Robinson department store | 11:00 am | 10:00 pm |
| Big C hypermarket | 9:00 am | 11:00 pm |
| Bank Zone (basement) | 11:00 am | 6:00 pm |
When the indoor floors close at 10:00 pm, the restaurants and bars on the ground floor of The Garden Zone, which open onto the street, carry on. McDonald’s in The Garden Zone and the 7-Eleven in the basement of The Jungle Zone are open 24 hours, and Taco Bell serves until 4:00 am (Jungceylon late-night guide).

The Four Zones: What Is Where
The four zones of Jungceylon each have a different job, and knowing which is which saves a lot of walking. Digital directory screens around the mall, and the full directory on jungceylon.com, show the floor and zone of every shop.
The Jungle Zone
The Jungle Zone is the side you enter from Sai 2 Road, and its basement holds the Food Bazaar food hall, the Thairapy Zone of Thai handicrafts, cosmetics, elephant pants and souvenirs, massage shops, the banks and a 24-hour 7-Eleven. Upstairs, on the 3rd floor, is Power Drive, an indoor electric go-kart track.
The Bay Zone
The Bay Zone is the centre of the mall, with the Chinese junk boat, the drop-off point and the Tourist Service Center, where you will find money exchange, luggage lockers, wheelchairs and tour desks.
The Botanica Zone
The Botanica Zone has the big stores: Big C, a two-level hypermarket, and the Robinson department store. Its 3rd floor is the leisure and gadget floor, with SF Cinema, Froggy’s Fun Park and the IT zone of phone and repair shops.
The Garden Zone
The Garden Zone is a row of sit-down restaurants and bars on the ground floor that open onto the street, from Thai kitchens to an Irish pub, and it stays lively after the rest of the mall has closed.
Where to Eat at Jungceylon
The best-value meal at Jungceylon is in the Food Bazaar, a street-food style hall in the basement of The Jungle Zone. Stalls cook Thai dishes to order, from pad thai and basil stir-fries to tom yum and khao soi from northern Thailand, and several stalls are halal (Jungceylon place recommendations).

For a sit-down dinner, head to The Garden Zone, where MAMA Thai Asian Food serves Thai and Asian food with a seafood focus, and Churrasco Phuket Steakhouse, Pizza Hut and The Irish Times Pub cover everything else. The mall’s ground floor also has the usual chains, from Starbucks and The Coffee Club to Shake Shack and Din Tai Fung.
If you are staying in a villa or apartment with a kitchen, Big C is the place for a big shop: fresh food, a bakery, imported groceries and beachwear under one roof, and it stays open until 11:00 pm (as of October 2026).
Banzaan Market, Right Behind the Mall
Banzaan Fresh Market is just behind Jungceylon on Sai Kor Road (Sai 3 Road). You pick fresh seafood such as lobster, prawns, squid and crab from the stalls and have it cooked at one of the nearby kitchens for a small fee.
Banzaan Market opens from early morning into the evening, so it pairs well with an afternoon in the mall. For something later, Bangla Night Market is a 3-minute walk from Jungceylon and runs from around 9:00 pm until 3 or 4 am, at the edge of Bangla Road’s bar scene.
Tourist Discounts and VAT Refunds
Jungceylon gives tourists discounts of 5% to 70% at participating stores with its Tourist Privilege Card, which you register for at the Tourist Privilege Booth in The Bay Zone (Jungceylon travel tips). Show a recent boarding pass at the same booth and you get a free souvenir from the mall’s elephant collection.
Tourists can also claim back part of Thailand’s 7% VAT. Spend at least 2,000 Baht in a single participating store, show your passport at checkout to get the P.P.10 form and tax invoice, and claim the refund at the airport VAT Refund Office when you leave Thailand (as of October 2026). Leave extra time at the airport for the queue.
One of the best times of year to shop is the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale, from mid-June to mid-August, when merchants offer discounts of 10 to 70 percent.
Rainy Days and Families
Jungceylon is the best rainy-day plan in Patong because everything is under one roof, a short walk from most hotels. September and early October are the wettest months, so this matters most then; our guide to the best time to visit Phuket explains the seasons.
- Power Drive go-karts: an indoor, air-conditioned electric track on the 3rd floor of The Jungle Zone, a 203-metre circuit on two levels.
- Froggy’s Fun Park: trampolines, a rope course, a play area and VR games on the 3rd floor of The Botanica Zone.
- Kidzooona: an indoor playground with role-play areas for younger children.
- SF Cinema: the latest films on the 3rd floor of The Botanica Zone, with Hollywood films in English.
- A massage: Thai massage in the Thairapy Zone starts from 350 THB per hour (as of October 2026).
When the sun comes back, our guide to what to do in Patong has the outdoor side of the town.
Money, SIM Cards and Luggage
Jungceylon is a practical stop for the errands of a holiday. Lion Currency Exchange has booths in The Bay, Botanica and Garden zones, the banks are in the basement of The Jungle Zone, and there are ATMs along the walkways.
- SIM cards: phone shops on the 3rd floor of The Botanica Zone sell tourist SIM cards; by Thai law you need your original passport to buy and register one.
- Luggage: MeSpace Locker in the Tourist Service Center and in the basement of The Jungle Zone is open 24/7, from 50 THB per hour (as of October 2026), handy on a late check-out day.
- Wheelchairs: free to borrow at the Information Counter or the Tourist Service Center, against a passport or a 5,000 THB cash deposit.
- Pharmacies: Boots, Watsons and Save Drug, for sunscreen, after-sun and basic medicine.
Getting There and Parking
Jungceylon’s main entrance is on Rat-U-Thit 200 Pee Road, which locals call Sai 2 Road. From there it is a 5 to 10-minute walk to Patong Beach: cross the street and walk straight down Bangla Road to the sand.
From Phuket airport, the Phuket Smart Bus (Route 1) and the Airport Bus Express (Route 3) stop at Jungceylon, leaving about every half an hour, for 100 Baht (as of October 2026). The official taxi counters charge 800 to 1,400 Baht to Patong, and Grab or Bolt typically cost 600 to 1,000 Baht. Our Phuket airport to Patong guide compares all the options.
Jungceylon has a large parking building, which makes it the easiest place to leave a car in central Patong. The first 30 minutes are free, then it costs 20 THB per hour; cars get the first 3 hours free with a minimum spend of 500 THB, and you pay at the autopay machines before you leave (Jungceylon parking; as of October 2026).
Is Jungceylon Worth a Visit?
Jungceylon is worth a visit for what it does well: cheap Thai food in the basement, a proper supermarket, errands like a SIM card or money exchange, and a cool place to spend a wet or very hot afternoon. With Banzaan Market behind it and the beach a few minutes away, it fits easily around a day in Patong.
Jungceylon is not worth crossing the island for. The international brands are the same ones you find in Bangkok or at home, so a mall is not a reason to spend an hour in traffic. Treat it as Patong’s town centre, not as a destination, and it is very useful.
