Thepprasit Night Market Pattaya: Weekend Guide

Thepprasit Night Market Pattaya: Weekend Guide

Thepprasit Night Market is Pattaya’s biggest night market: over 500 stalls of street food, cheap clothes and souvenirs on Thepprasit Road in South Pattaya, with free entry. The full market runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from about 5:00 pm, and a smaller version now opens on weeknights too.

Thepprasit is aimed more at residents doing a weekly shop than at coach-tour groups, and that is part of why its prices run lower than at Pattaya’s tourist markets. This guide covers the opening days and hours, what to eat, how to bargain, the best time to go and how to get there.

What Thepprasit Night Market Is

Thepprasit Market (ตลาดเทพประสิทธิ์) is a large covered market on Thepprasit Road, near its junction with Sukhumvit Road and close to the Jomtien side of town. It is also known as the Pattaya Weekend Market, and it has over 500 stalls (Thailand Magazine).

Thepprasit has been running since 1999, and its crowd is largely local: Pattaya residents doing a weekly shop, with tourists filling in around the edges (Thai Holiday Guide). Plan on one to two hours to eat and see most of it.

Opening Days and Hours

Thepprasit Night Market opens every evening from 5:00 pm, but the full market, with every stall, only runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (as of October 2026). It used to be a Friday-to-Sunday market only and has opened nightly since at least February 2026 (Visit Thailand Today).

Days (as of October 2026)HoursWhat to expect
Friday to SundayAbout 5:00 pm to 11:00 pmFull market, every stall
Monday to ThursdayAbout 5:00 pm to 10:30 pmFewer stalls, quieter
The market has no website and the guides that list it disagree by about half an hour, so treat closing times as approximate.

Closing time is about 11:00 pm, and many stalls start packing up from about 10:30 pm. On weeknights, expect about a third of the stalls to be shut, so if you only have one evening for the market, make it a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Food: What to Eat

Food is the main reason to go to Thepprasit, and most dishes cost 40 to 150 THB (as of October 2026). Look for BBQ seafood, grilled pork skewers, roasted duck over rice, papaya salad, mango sticky rice, coconut ice cream and fresh fruit juices.

Food prices at Thepprasit are not fixed and can change from night to night, so ask before you order, and pay in cash with small notes: most vendors don’t take cards. The desserts and snacks are the safest bets; the hot dishes vary from stall to stall, so look at what is on the grill before you commit to a full plate.

The food stalls are busiest early in the evening, and the best of them sell out by about 9:00 pm, so eat first and shop afterwards. For the dishes worth hunting down across the city, see our Pattaya street food guide.

Shopping and Bargaining

The market sells cheap clothing, shoes, bags, jewellery, watches, phone accessories, toys and household goods, plus pets and pet supplies. Second-hand hunters should look for the Vintage Market section (Thailand Magazine).

Counterfeit goods are sold openly at Thepprasit: branded watches, bags and sunglasses that look convincing but are illegal to import, and customs can confiscate them at the airport. Stick to the food and souvenirs if you want to take things home without trouble.

Bargaining is normal at the clothing and souvenir stalls, but not for food. Start at about 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle; keep it friendly, because aggressive bargaining is considered rude in Thailand.

Best Time to Visit Thepprasit Night Market

The best time to visit Thepprasit Night Market is a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, arriving before 7:00 pm, when every stall is open but the lanes still have room. By 8:00 pm on a Saturday the main lanes are shoulder-to-shoulder.

The market is fully covered, which helps on a wet-season evening, but the busy lanes get hot, so dress light. Our Jomtien Beach guide explains the seasons on this side of town.

  • Arrive before 7:00 pm and eat first, before the best stalls sell out.
  • Bring cash in small notes; most vendors don’t take cards.
  • Ask the price first at food stalls, because prices change.
  • Wear shoes you can walk in and keep valuables in a front pocket in the crowds.

Getting There

The market is on Thepprasit Road in South Pattaya, toward the Sukhumvit Road end, behind Outlet Mall Pattaya. It is off the baht-bus loops along Beach Road and Second Road, so a Bolt car or a motorbike taxi is the simple way there and back.

Big C Supercenter South Pattaya is about 10 minutes’ walk from the market, which makes it an easy landmark to give a driver. Showing them the Thai name, ตลาดเทพประสิทธิ์, also helps.

Thepprasit vs Other Pattaya Markets

Thepprasit is the biggest and cheapest of Pattaya’s night markets. Jomtien Night Market, about 3 km away near Jomtien Beach, is smaller and runs every night; choose it if you want to eat close to the sea rather than shop.

Thepprasit is not the Pattaya Floating Market, a purpose-built tourist site where vendors sell from boats on an artificial canal. Thepprasit is a street market on dry ground, aimed at residents more than coach tours, which is why its prices run lower.

Is Thepprasit Night Market Worth It?

Thepprasit Night Market is worth it if you enjoy street food, browsing and a busy, local atmosphere: entry is free, most dishes cost 40 to 150 THB (as of October 2026), and it shows how Pattaya spends its weekends. It is the best Friday or Saturday evening plan on the south side of the city.

Thepprasit is not worth it if crowds and heat wear you out, or if you want quality brands: the clothing is cheap rather than good. On a Monday to Thursday it is a thinner version of itself, so go at the weekend. For more ideas for the rest of your trip, see our things to do in Pattaya.

Where to Stay Near Thepprasit Market

Staying in Pattaya rather than a hotel room means a kitchen for the fruit you carry home from the market, and space to spread out after a long, hot evening.

Silqhaus, a Phuket and Pattaya holiday-rental company, has The Base, a condo in Pattaya, and Zire Wongamat, a beachfront condo with a sea view on Wongamat Beach. Every home is run by our own local team, who you can message directly from day one, and booking direct is at least 10% cheaper than the same home on Airbnb, Booking.com or Vrbo.
