Carnival Magic Phuket is an evening-only theme park at Kamala on Phuket’s west coast, built around one big indoor parade show and a garden lit with millions of lights. A ticket with dinner costs 2,500 THB for an adult (as of October 2026), and the park opens three evenings a week, from 5:30 pm.
It is loud, bright and unapologetically over the top, which is exactly why it suits some travellers perfectly and leaves others cold. This guide covers what you actually see, ticket prices, open days, whether it is worth the money, how it compares with Phuket FantaSea next door, and how to get there.

What Carnival Magic Is
Carnival Magic is a Thai-carnival theme park run as the sister park of Phuket FantaSea, on land next to it at Kamala (Carnival Magic: About us). The idea dates from 2003, but building was halted three times: by the 2004 tsunami, the late-2000s recession and the COVID-19 pandemic. The park finally opened in 2022.
Carnival Magic says it cost more than US$150 million, which it calls the largest theme park investment in Thailand, and it claims 9 Guinness World Records, including the world’s longest parade float. The theme is Thailand’s own festivals: temple fairs, royal barge processions and Loy Krathong, turned into one evening of parades, light displays and food.
Carnival Magic is only open in the evening. The park says daytime is reserved for maintenance, so you cannot drop by in the afternoon for photos.
What You See in One Evening
Every Carnival Magic ticket includes the River Carnival parade show and the Kingdom of Lights, plus the free street shows in the park. In practice an evening has four parts: the fun fair, dinner, the parade and the lights.
River Carnival parade show
The River Carnival is the main event: a parade of giant barges, floats and costumes inside the River Palace, an air-conditioned parade stadium the park calls the Paradium. According to Carnival Magic, the show has a cast of more than 150 actors, costumes up to 8 metres tall and a stage over 70 metres wide. There is no spoken language in the show, so it works for every nationality.
Photos and video are not allowed inside the Paradium. Cameras and phones go into self-service lockers near the entrance before you take your seat, so plan your photos for the rest of the park.
Kingdom of Lights
After the parade, guests walk through the Kingdom of Lights, a garden strung with millions of lights. It opens at a pre-announced time rather than when the gates open, so check the time when you arrive.
Carnival Fun Fair, street parades and food
The Carnival Fun Fair is the park’s area of shops, market stalls, drink bars and snack booths. Street dancers and a parade called Festival of Colors perform there at set times, and there is a dancing fountain show at Happiness Falls. Dinner is either the main buffet restaurant (Thai and international food, with a vegetarian line and a halal zone) or one of the set-menu, à la carte and fast-food restaurants in the park.
Tickets and Prices
Carnival Magic tickets cost 2,500 THB for an adult with the buffet dinner and 2,100 THB for admission only, according to the park’s ticket page (carnivalmagic.fun; as of October 2026). Prices include VAT, and every ticket type includes the parade and the Kingdom of Lights.
| Ticket (as of October 2026) | Adult | Child |
|---|---|---|
| Admission + buffet dinner | 2,500 THB | 2,400 THB |
| Admission only | 2,100 THB | 2,100 THB |
| 2-park combo with Phuket FantaSea (both with dinner) | 3,700 THB | 3,600 THB |
| Royal Seat upgrade (centre seats) | 350 THB | 350 THB |
| Hotel transfer, round trip anywhere in Phuket | 450 THB | 450 THB |
Children are those between 101 and 140 cm tall. Infants up to 100 cm enter free but do not get a seat in the Paradium. Carnival Magic has a one-price policy: official agents must sell at the same price as the park, and vouchers bought at an unauthorised discount may be refused at the gate. Issued tickets are non-refundable and cannot be changed.
Book ahead: seats are allocated by computer on a first-come, first-served basis, and you must collect your tickets at the park at least one hour before the parade, or the booking may be cancelled.
Open Days, Hours and Parade Times
Carnival Magic opens on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, from 5:30 pm to 11:30 pm, according to the park’s website (as of October 2026). Check the official site before you plan your evening around it, as the park sets its own schedule.
The parade time depends on the date: the park’s sample itineraries (Carnival Magic itinerary) show River Carnival shows at 5:00 pm, 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm, and your ticket shows yours. Carnival Magic recommends arriving at least 90 minutes before the parade, which leaves time for dinner and the fun fair first.
Is Carnival Magic Worth It? The Honest Answer
Carnival Magic is worth it if you want one big, easy family evening and you enjoy spectacle for its own sake. The parade is genuinely large, the lights are impressive, and the whole night is organised so that you never have to think about where to go next.
Carnival Magic is less worth it if you count the cost closely. For two adults with dinner and transfers, an evening is about 5,900 THB before drinks, rides and souvenirs. That is the price of several good dinners in Phuket Old Town. The buffet is a large tourist buffet, not a highlight of Thai cooking, and the shopping is souvenir shopping.
- Go if: you have children aged roughly 4 to 12, it’s your first trip to Thailand, or rain has ruled out a beach evening.
- Skip if: you want Thai culture at its own pace, dislike crowds and loud effects, or are on a tight budget.
- Save money: admission only is 400 THB less than the dinner ticket for an adult; you can eat before you go and still see everything.
Carnival Magic With Children
Carnival Magic is built for children, but it is not a ride park. The rides are only for children under 140 cm, each with its own rules, and rides, the playground and souvenir photos cost extra on top of the ticket.
The parade uses pyrotechnics and flame effects, which the park itself warns may startle young children. Young infants may enter the Paradium at their parents’ discretion. With toddlers, an aisle seat and an early parade time make the evening much easier, and it is worth bringing ear defenders for small children.
Carnival Magic or Phuket FantaSea?
Carnival Magic and Phuket FantaSea are sister parks side by side at Kamala, but they are different evenings. FantaSea is a night-time cultural theme park built around a grand stage show of Thai culture; Carnival Magic is a carnival with a parade and a light garden. The two are run by separate companies, and a ticket for one is not valid at the other.
The parks open on alternating days, so you cannot do both in one night. The 2-park combo (3,700 THB per adult, both with dinner) covers two separate evenings within 14 days. If you only have time for one, pick Carnival Magic for younger children and lights, and FantaSea for a story-led Thai show. Our Kamala Beach guide has a short note on FantaSea too.
Getting There
Carnival Magic is in Kamala, about 23 km and 30 minutes by car from Phuket Airport (Carnival Magic: location). The park’s own estimates of drive times are below.
| From | By car (approx.) |
|---|---|
| Kamala Beach | 2 minutes |
| Surin Beach | 5 minutes |
| Patong Beach | 10 minutes |
| Bang Tao Beach | 10 minutes |
| Karon Beach | 25 minutes |
| Phuket Town | 30 minutes |
| Kata Beach | 35 minutes |
The park recommends its shared hotel transfer (450 THB per person round trip, as of October 2026) or hotel transport; a taxi or your own car or scooter also works. There is a taxi stand at the front of the park for the ride home. Staying in Patong? Our Patong Beach guide covers the rest of that side of the island.
